So, I wanted to start a new "series," if you will, on the blog. Once a week, I will post a post saying my favorite song that week that I will most likely be playing all of the time. I thought this would be fun, and maybe you'll discover some new songs/music!
This song is called "Go," by Hillsong United. I love this song. And I know, surprisingly, it's not by One Direction. It's so upbeat and happy, you can add this as one of my favorite summer songs. (: It's really fun to sing and dance around to. I hope you like this song! :)
Hey! I don't know about you, but i've always had trouble tying bows. Well, recently I learned how to tie one perfectly, so here is a little tutorial on how you do it! Enjoy!
1.) Take your fabric, ribbon, string, or whatever you are tying, and cross one side over the other.
2.) Tuck the top piece of fabric under and pull it through, as if you were tying a knot.
3.) Pull tight.
4.) Make a big loop with one piece of fabric.
5.) Make a big loop with the other piece of fabric.
6.) Cross one loop over the other, like in step 1.
7.) Tuck the top loop under and pull it through, just like in step 2.
8.) Finally, pull tight and make any adjustments needed to make your bow is perfect!
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed it! Happy Sunday! -Lynn (:
So, Lynn did this post a while ago, and I thought I would do one, because a lot of the things that I like are different from hers. Like high/low skirts and colored jeans. Much different.
1. The first trend I like is, obviously, big, square sunglasses. All of these are from Forever 21. Which is one of me, and Lynn's favorite stores, ever.
2. Denim/Button Down dresses. The first dress picture is kind of awkward, I know. But that dress is from Forever 21. The second one, I actually own. I think it is such a pretty color. I wear it with a yellow sweater over it.The other dress is from Rue 21. The yellow sweater will be in an outfit of the day soon.
3. High-waisted shorts. I'm kind of obsessed with these, even though I don't own any. I am gonna get some soon, though. I have no clue where these are from. I found them on Google. I really love it when a shirt is tied with it.
4. CORAL! I am obsessed with coral, it's like One Direction. It's bad. Even though I don't really like colored bottoms, I can stick with high waisted coral shorts. I think they are amazing.
5. Lace. Lace anything. Love lace. I especially like these lace sandals! I want them so bad!
I love music, as you know. I want to tell you about some of my favorite summer songs/artists.
I. Love. Leeland. They are a Christian band, with AMAZING music. My favorite song from them is called "The Great Awakening." If you click on the song title, it will send you to the song, by the way. :) This song is so upbeat and fun, amazing for this season!
Gungor! This is one of Lynn's favorite bands, I think. My favorite song is "Beautiful Things."
Britt Nicole is one of my favorite Christian artists. I love the song "All This Time" It's funny, when I Googled Britt's picture, a picture of Niall Horan (from One Direction) came up. I find it awesome.
And of course, the one and only, One Direction. I love them, a lot, as you know, but they are seriously PERFECT for summer music. Most all of their songs are upbeat and happy! I like a bunch of their songs. Well, all of their songs. Here are just some of my favorites for summer!
I like a bunch more songs/artists, but these are just some of my favorite for summer. I recommend you check out all of them! I hope you enjoyed my favorite spring/summer trends! You're awesome for reading all this, just so you know!
Hi! We are two girls named Lynn and Kaitlyn who love DIY, but more than anything, the Lord!
-Hi! I'm Kaitlyn. Lynn is one of my best friends, ever. I sing and play acoustic guitar, and have a strong faith with the Lord. I've known Lynn for about 4-5 years, and we decided to make this blog because we have the same interests and love DIY, and of course, the Lord! I love hair, makeup, cooking, fashion, music, photography, One Direction, and Jesus.♥ Yes, you will see from many of my blog posts that I have a slight obsession with One Direction, just a slight obsession. Ask Lynn. Music is one of my biggest things in my life. I could play my guitar and sing for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. It's my passion. I am such a little kid at heart, I love little kid toys, pillow pets, and American Girl Dolls. <---- Yes, I am such a kid. I actually like cleaning. I find it fun. I usually jam out to One Direction when I clean. (Of Course.) If you want to know more about me, feel free to ask! Thank you so much for checking out our blog! You are awesome!
-Hey! I'm Lynn. I love to dance. Anywhere from ballet to contemporary to jazz, it's my passion. I also love to make crafts, as you probably guessed. But, more than anything in the world, I love the Lord! I try my hardest to live for Him everyday, because He is the only reason i'm alive. A few other random things I like would be, hair, fashion, music, DIY, photography, art, and food (I could eat all day long). I have many friends, but one of my closest would be Kaitlyn. She is crazy and random, but I love her. ♥ I'm kind of shy when meeting new people, but once you get to know me, you learn that i'm insane. Especially late at night. (: I have an obsession with The Hunger Games. I seriously don't know what i'll do with my life after the Mockingjay movie comes out. But I will find something and, until then, I shall sit around and wait for November 2013. That's when Catching Fire comes out, for any of you who are oblivious to what i'm saying. (: Anyways, thanks for checking out our blog and I hope you like it!
Hey everyone! Sorry, I haven't posted anything in a really long time. I've been really busy. And by "busy", I mean i've been reading The Hunger Games. (: IT'S SO GOOD. I finished it, and I plan to read Catching Fire as soon as I can get the book (which hopefully will be tomorrow). I'm definitely not patient. Seriously, i'm going insane. I NEED THAT BOOK. Anyways, I will hopefully be able to make a tutorial this week, but chances are, i'll be too absorbed in my book. If that's the case, I will post one next week, promise. Until then, please enjoy this top ten list of annoying things to do on an elevator. (:
Annoying things to do on an elevator:
Stand silent and motion less in the corner facing the wall without getting off.
Greet everyone with a warm handshake and ask him or her to call you admiral.
"Meow" occasionally.
Stare at another passenger for a while, then announce in horror: "You're one of them!" and back away slowly.
Say "Ding" at each floor.
Make explosion noises when someone presses a button.
Draw a little square on the floor with chalk and the announce to the person "This is my personal space."
When there's only one other person in the elevator, tap them on the shoulder, then pretend it wasn't you.
Drop a pen and wait until someone reaches to help pick it up, then scream: "That's mine!"
Call out a "group hug" then enforce it.
Hope you enjoyed those as much as I did when I first heard them. -Lynn :)
So, this is a topic that is really close to my heart. I hate it when I see people try to be like everyone else, just so they will feel accepted. It's okay to want to be accepted, but don't change who you are. I used to be that way in sixth grade. I wanted to be just like one of my friends, Brooklynn. I bought the same headbands she had, shopped at the same store she does, wore my hair like she did, and even started dancing like she did. I wasn't myself. At all. I was not what God wanted me to be. I was what the world wanted me to be. Now, I'm me. And no one can change that. The picture with the quote is one of my favorite quotes that I remind myself each day. I now know that I don't need to change to make myself feel accepted. My friends accept me, and better yet, God accepts me. So don't worry about trying to feel accepted, you're amazing just the way you are. -Kaitlyn♥
So, my mom and me tried the popcorn trick from the 24 things that will make your life easier post a while back. We actually used a WHITE paper bag, and put the popcorn in for however long we desired. (4 minutes) and waited. Make sure that you tape the bag shut. No, the tape is not flammable. We took it out of the microwave and were pretty scared, I'm not gonna lie, but it worked! It tastes so much better than the boxed stuff. No oil is needed, or anything. Just add salt or whatever when your done, and it tastes amazing! Just thought I would let you know! :) By the way, we ate it at 9:15 in the morning. Just to prove how crazy my family is. Have a great day!
Hey! Lynn here. Kaitlyn and I had a sleepover about a week ago and I still haven't uploaded the pictures. So, today I decided to upload them, finally. (: Oh yeah, HAPPY EASTER!!
I can't get this song out of my head, so I want to put the lyrics in here. We sang this song at church tonight, and it really spoke to me. I wanna cry every time I sing it. If you don't want to read all of the song lyrics, go to the end of the post.
All this pain I wonder if I'll ever find my way I wonder if my life could really change at all All this earth Could all that is lost ever be found Could a garden come up from this ground at all?
You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of us
All around Hope is springing up from this old ground Out of chaos life is being found in You
You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of us
You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of us
You make me new, You are making me new You make me new, You are making me new You are making me new
You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of us♥
This song really spoke to me because I find myself judging people and things all the time. It's one of those things that I preach but never practice when I say "Don't judge a book by it's cover." God made everyone beautiful in their own way. We may not think they are the prettiest person ever, but God MADE THEM BEAUTIFUL. They are beautiful in his eyes. It just shows how selfish we are to think, oh she's ugly, or oh look at her clothes. Nobody is perfect. We were made the way we are because we are all different. No one individual is the same, and they never will be. God made Adam from the dust, and then made eve and the animals. It proves he truly does make beautiful things out of the dust. God loves you.
I know Kaitlyn has been sharing with you her obsession, and so I thought I would share with you something I'm kind of obsessed with. I love The Hunger Games. But not quite to the extent as Kaitlyn's love for One Direction, she's a little over the top. :) I haven't read the books, but I REALLY want to. I'm going to soon. Anyways, here are some funny pictures that I love. Just so you know, you probably won't understand them unless you have read the book or seen the movie.
Okay, one last post today from me. I figured out that I didn't tell you guys about a humongous part of my life.
I play guitar and I sing. I have been playing guitar for about six years, and love it. I have been singing, I'm pretty sure all of my life. I write my own songs for fun, and love to share them with people. This is a song I wrote last night. I was letting my feelings out when I wrote it, showing that I am a strong girl. Hope you like it! Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpXeQZ9Jwmk&list=UU8c7WfrxCNJvo6Ov8xdaKTQ&index=1&feature=plcp
I was gonna make a video for this, but figured that I would probably start crying during it, so I decided I would just do a text post. Today I am going to share my testimony. How God rescued me, and how I am not the same girl I used to be.
When I was about 6 or 7, I got saved at VBS because all my friends were doing it. It seemed like the cool thing to do. I had no idea what it meant to be saved. The only thing I knew was that Jesus died on the cross and he did it for me. About a month later, my dad baptized me. I didn't know what that meant either, I just knew it meant something, but I didn't know exactly what. I went on with my life putting on the act for about 5 years. When I was 11, I went to Middle School Church Camp for the first time ever at my church. Jordan Easley was speaking. It was the very first night. June 18. He asked the question if our lives were like broken glass. Then he broke a mirror. He said our lives are like that without Jesus. I started balling then. I rededicated my life that night. I talked with a lady named Beth and she said that I was the sweetest person she has ever met, and I have every right to cry, but it should be tears of joy. And it was. I was changed instantly. He restored me. He wiped away my sins. I had a clean slate.
Ever since then, my life has been amazing. Amazing. He has let so many great things come to me. I started FCA (fellowship of Christian athletes) at my school & led worship. Every Wednesday morning for 45 minutes. I have brought 11 people to Christ, and they became some of my best friends. I have seen so many lives changed. God has given me so many great opportunities. He has taught me not to have any regrets, walk everyday showing my love for him. Do everything for him. He is always with me, no matter what. He has taught me to cherish every moment that I have, because I don't know when I'm going to take my last breath.
Every morning when I am getting ready for school, I listen to nothing but worship music. Usually Aaron Ivey. I burned 30 copies of the CD and gave them out to random people at my school & the outcome from that was amazing. People started going to church because they listened to that CD. It makes me get tears in my eyes because it makes me so happy just to think about it.
God has given me such great friends that I can trust and talk about my problems with. Lynn being a perfect example. We didn't start this blog to JUST share our cooking tips, fashion tips, etc. We started this blog to share the word of God. And that's what we do.
One more thing, yeah, I listen to other music than just worship. Just because you have a relationship with the Lord doesn't mean you have to limit yourself to just Christian music. I don't listen to much other music than Christian, though. Like, One Direction, yes, I listen to them all of the time, but they all believe in the Lord, which makes me feel even better about the music I am listening to.
That was my story, and then some other info. If you want to know more, email me at sunshinekaitlyn@gmail.com and I will be glad to tell you more about Jesus and his love for you.
He loves you no matter what, don't ever forget that.
This song is called "All This Time" by Britt Nicole. I love this song, maybe you will like it to. :)
-Kaitlyn♥
So as you may have guessed, this is about One Direction. The Infection has hit me hard. This video is from when they were on X-FACTOR. Their vocal coach sang the song. It's super funny. I mean like hilarious. They all look a little different, considering this was from 2010, but that's okay. :) I thought you might have a good laugh when you watch it. :) My next post won't be all about One Direction, I promise. :) Have a great day!
Hi.
It's Kaitlyn.
As you can probably tell from my recent posts, I have a slight obsession with One Direction. It's not a bad thing though. I don't see how it can possibly be a bad thing. If you have never heard of One Direction, they were all on X-FACTOR in England in 2010. They didn't know each other and all got cut the same day, but brought back and were put in a group by Simon Cowell. And Simon did an amazing job at making the group. Because they are amazing. One of them is Irish though, Niall, which is the blonde one. I am going to post my 3 favorite music videos by them in this post because I feel like it. :)
This is "What Makes You Beautiful." The first person that sings is Liam, the second is Harry, then they all sing, then Zayn in the next verse. :) I LOVVVVEEEEE this song.
This is "One Thing." My favorite song. The first person that sings is Liam, then Harry, then Zayn. In the second verse it's Niall, and then Louis. Niall is the Irish one.
This is "One Thing," but ACOUSTIC. It is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. I love this. It's constantly on replay in my room all of the time. They are awesome at harmonizing. If you didn't notice. All of the singing is in the order it was from the music video. :)
Okay, now some of their video diaries, I promise you, you will laugh your head off. Louis is probably the funniest guy ever.
Video Diary #1
Video Diary #2
Video Diary #3. Funniest. One. Ever.
Video Diary #4. Seriously. I cry when I watch this because it's so funny.
Okay, NOW FOR THE PICTURES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Liam.
Louis.
Harry.
Niall. The Irish one. :)
Zayn.
All of them.
Do you have the One Direction Infection yet? I hope so. :) Lynn is probably mad at me for posting this, but I mean, I couldn't help it... :)
