I'm a dancer. :)

So, I just realized that theres a big part of me that I haven't told you about. I'm a dancer. <--That's like half my life right there. :) I dance at Nashville Ballet and I go 4 (sometimes 5) days a week for 2 1/2 hours each day. Yeah, its pretty intense. But I love it! :) Here are some pictures of me dancing, some of these are kind of old, so don't be surprised if I look really young.

See, I look young in these two.

Remember Me?

Hey.
My name is Kaitlyn.
Remember me?
I bet not.

Hey guys!
I FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY got my laptop charger! I am super duper happy. I felt like a part of me was missing when I couldn't post on the blog. I missed this so much. I will be posting as many posts as I can this weekend. I am actually spending the night at Lynn's on Saturday, so we will probably make some stuff for the blog. I'm almost positive. :) I will probably post something tomorrow. :) Thanks so much Lynn for keeping up with the blog while I was absent! :)

Polka Dot Nails - 3 Ways!

Here's a little tutorial on 3 different ways to polka dot your nails. The first using a toothpick, second a bobby pin, and third a pencil + straight pin. Enjoy!

1. Toothpick - This one is the most obvious and most popular, yet it's my least favorite. As you probably know, just dip the end of your toothpick in nail polish, and dot away! I found it easier to drip some nail polish onto a paper plate, or something you can just throw away, and dip my toothpick into that drop instead of trying to dip it right into the nail polish container. This method works with all three of these techniques, not just toothpicks.

2. Bobby Pin - First, stretch out your bobby pin as shown above. This just makes it easier to work with. Then, just do exactly like the toothpick, dip your bobby pin into nail polish and dot away! These dots came out a little bigger than the ones with the toothpick for me.

3. Pencil + Straight Pin - Push a straight pin into the eraser of a pencil. Then do exactly like the first two, dip your straight pin into nail polish and dot away! I really like this way because if you use a bigger straight pin, you'll have bigger dots, use a smaller straight pin, and you'll have smaller dots. It's very versatile. I learned this technique here.

Well, there you have it! 3 ways to polka dot your nails! Have fun experimenting! And here is a little inspiration:

24 Clever Ideas to Make Life Easier

Someone forwarded me this email, it's genius. Just keep reading and you'll understand why. :)

Why didn’t I think of that?!  We guarantee you’ll
Be uttering those words more than once at these ingenious little tips, tricks and ideas that solve everyday problems.

1. Hull strawberries easily using a straw.

2. Rubbing a walnut over scratches in your furniture will disguise dings and scrapes.

3. Remove crayon masterpieces from your TV or computer screen with WD40.

4. Stop cut apples browning in your child’s lunch box by securing with a rubber band.

5. Store bed linen sets inside one of their own pillowcases and there will be no more hunting through piles for a match.

6. Pump up the volume by placing your iPhone or iPod in a bowl.  The concave shape amplifies the music.

7. Re-use a wet-wipes container to store plastic bags.

8. Add this item to your beach bag.  Baby powder gets sand off your skin easily, who knew?!

9. Attach a Velcro strip to the wall to store soft toys.

10. Use wire to make a space to store gift wrap rolls against the ceiling, rather than cluttering up the floor.

11. Find tiny lost items like earrings by putting a stocking over the vacuum hose.

12. Make an instant cupcake carrier by cutting crosses into a box lid.

13. For those who can’t stand the scrunching and bunching: how to perfectly fold a fitted sheet.

14. Forever losing your bathroom essentials?  Use magnetic strips to store bobby pins, tweezers and clippers, behind a vanity door

15. Store shoes inside shower caps to stop dirty soles rubbing on your clothes.  And you can find them in just about every hotel.

16. A muffin pan becomes a craft caddy.  Magnets hold the plastic cups down to make them tip-resistant.

17. Bread tags make the perfect cord labels.

18. Bake cupcakes directly in ice-cream cones, so much more fun and easier for kids to eat.

19. Microwave your own popcorn in a plain brown paper bag.  Much healthier and cheaper than the packet stuff.

20. Install a tension rod to hang your spray bottles.

21. Turn your muffin pan upside down, bake cookie-dough over the top and voila, you have cookie bowls for fruit or ice-cream.

22. Freeze Aloe Vera in ice-cube trays for soothing sunburn relief.

23. Create a window-box veggie patch using guttering.

24. Use egg cartons to separate and store your Christmas decorations.

I told you, it's genius. I haven't tried all of these, so don't blame me if something doesn't work. ;) But one thing I did try was number 21, the cookie bowls. Lets just say, I totally failed:
Yeah. . . . Turns out I was just supposed to grease the pan. Hopefully, if you make them, you will have much better luck.

Outfit of the Day

I love florals. It has always been one of my favorite patterns. Actually, I don't really know if floral is considered a pattern. . . Well, whatever it is, I love it! It reminds me of pretty spring days, like yesterday! Minus the rain, of course. Hopefully today will be another beautiful day! :) So, moving on to my outfit, my tank top and shoes are from Target. My bag was a birthday present, Lucy got it for me at Claires. I did my hair in a french twist, at least I think thats what its called, and then jeans to finish it off! Hope you have a wonderful day!  -Lynn :)

P.S.- It's really bothering me how the grass in the bottom right picture looks lighter than the others.

Paper Towel Roll Picture Effect

I figured out this really cool picture effect (I don't know what to call it) using a paper towel roll, and I just thought I would share it with you. :) Here's how I did it:

I took an empty paper towel roll and held it up against the lens, so that the camera was looking through the roll like a telescope. I found that it worked better without the flash for my camera, but you'll have to try it different ways and see what works best for you. Then, just snap a picture! Have fun experimenting!

Feels Like Summer!

Hey! I'm so sorry I haven't been posting, this weekend was really hectic for me. But today, I'm excited to say, it feels like summer! :) Here are some of my favorite summer fashions:

1. High-Low Skirts/Dresses

I am in love with these skirts and dresses. I want one soooo bad! Every time I go into a store, I look for one with a good price. :) These two are from Forever 21, which I'm so excited because they are building one near me! Finally, I won't have to drive 100 miles away to go. . . .
2. Sunglasses

I used to never wear sunglasses. Ever. I didn't even own a pair. But, last year, I bought some and I realized, whoever invented sunglasses was really smart. I mean, their fashionable and have a purpose. I now love sunglasses. Although I only have two pairs right now, I plan to buy more. :) These are from Charming Charlie, one of my favorite accessory stores!
3. Color Jeans

So, I know Kaitlyn doesn't really like these, but I really do. I actually bought a pair of purple ones the other day! I love adding a pop of color to any outfit, and these are a perfect solution! These are from Delia*s, MY FAVORITE CLOTHING STORE IN THE WHOLE WORLD!! Just sayin'. :)
4. Sandals

What is summer without sandals? I think almost every girl would agree, you have to have sandals. These are from Payless. My favorite are the bottom left, for some reason I have always loved hooded sandals, but, sadly, they don't look good on my feet. I don't actually like the red ones, but they gave the picture some color. :)
5. Scarves

My favorite accessory! The best part is, their good all year round! These are from Old Navy, I recently went there with Kaitlyn and discovered, they have awesome scarves! And dresses. And shirts. And shoes. And skirts. And sunglasses.
And. . . . . .

So, did you learn something new about me? Have a great Sunday!  -Lynn :)

No-Sew Jeans to Capris/Shorts - DIY

Have you noticed? The warm weather is here! It's crazy how fast it went from cold to hot! Anyways, this is a little tutorial on how to turn your old jeans into capris or shorts! And the best part is, you don't have to sew! Just make sure your jeans still fit in the waist, mine were too short and I didn't want to throw them away, so I came up with this simple little trick. :)

Supplies Needed: Jeans, scissors and a writing utensil that will show up on your jeans (pencil, pen, chalk, etc.)

1. Put on your jeans and decide how short you want them. Mark that spot on both legs with your writing utensil.

2. Take off your jeans and lay them on a flat surface. Using your scissors, cut off the pant leg a few inches below the mark you made.

3. Repeat on other leg.

4. Roll up your jeans on both sides to make a cuff. Make sure each side is even.

And thats it! Easy, right? Now you're ready for summer! Hope you liked my tutorial!  -Lynn :)

Hey Hey Hey.

Hey!
It's Kaitlyn.
Long time no post, right? When we went to best buy, they didn't have my laptop charger, so we have to order through the company my computer is from. My mom is letting me use her old laptop right now, but it's so old it doesn't let me upload pictures or anything. Yes I know, it's super duper out dated. If I do upload pictures or whatever to it, it takes an hour for each picture. So, we are ordering my laptop charger ASAP, but I have to pay for it, so it might take me another week or so... I know, it stinks. So I will probably just be using this computer and posting text posts for a while. I'm sorry :( Atleast I can post stuff though! I wanna give Lynn a HUGE HUGE HUGE thank you for keeping up with the blog while I've had these computer issues. HOPEFULLY I will be back soon! Thanks for being patient with me!

Just So You Know...

Hey everyone! Sorry, I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been really busy, Saturday I had to do a ton of yard work and yesterday (Sunday) I went to the Winter Jam! It was so much fun! Skillet was awesome! :) Anyways, today I'm going shopping so I'm not sure if I will be able to post anything else today either. But hopefully I'll have something up tomorrow! Just wanted to let you all know!  -Lynn :)
