Hair Flower Tutorial

Hello there! This is a tutorial on how to make a hair flower just like the one pictured above. Enjoy!

Supplies Needed: scissors, needle and thread, alligator hair clip (or any other type of hair clip), button (I used a cover button kit to cover my button in fabric), circular object to trace around (I used a small bowl about 3" in diameter), fabric, small amount of felt that is close to the same color as your fabric, pencil or pen that will lightly show up on your fabric, and a hot glue gun.

1. Trace your circular object onto your fabric 5 times using your pen or pencil.
2. You should have 5 circles drawn onto your fabric.
3. Cut out your circles.

4. You should have five circles of fabric.
5. Thread your needle and knot the end.
6. Take one circle and fold it in half.

7. Fold that circle in half again, so you have a triangle.
8. Push your needle into the corner of your triangle, but don't pull the need all the way through.
9. Push your needle through your triangle the other direction but, again, don't pull the needle all the way through.
10. Keep pushing and pulling your needle in and out until your triangle looks something like this.
11. Now pull your needle all the way through. You now have one flower petal.
12. Repeat steps 6-11 on the rest of your fabric circles. It should look something like this when you are done.
13. Connect the last "petal" with the first by pushing your needle through the corner of the first.
14. Knot your thread and cut of the extra.
15. You should have something that looks like this.
16. Cut out a circle of felt about 1" in diameter, then hot glue it onto the back of your flower.
17. Cut a small rectangle as long as your circle (about 1") and clip your alligator clip onto it like shown above.
18. Hot glue the back of your clip/felt rectangle onto your felt circle.
19. Now glue a button onto the front (either a normal button, like shown above, or use a button cover kit to cover your button, like shown below).
20. Clip your new flower into your hair and wait for those compliments!

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial! Thanks for reading!  -Lynn :)
